He has spent about 20 years in private banking. Through is different projects, he moved up the ladder in his career. It was not until he was 39 in 2014 that his career took off in a new projection. Together with is the partner he launched his Swiss startup factory.
The purpose of the company is to support the startup business and promote them to global companies. This company operates in two ways; they first run the accelerator program and secondly provide the services that they need to grow to a successful company.

His career started back in 1991 when he joined the UBS wealth management. He worked with the company for nine years. In 2000, he was promoted and became the wealth management Switzerland in the same company. He worked in this position for two years before becoming the Key Client Group Switzerland. He later left the company 2008. In the same year, he joined the Clariden Leu as a business Area head of private banking. He worked in the position for two years after which he was promoted to the head of private banking.
Mike left the company in September 2012. In October the same year, he joined the Sallfort private bank as the head of private banking. In 2014, he left the company and founded the Baur IS. He has been the CEO of the company since 2014. In the same year, he founded the Think reloaded ag which he has managed since then.
In 2015, he was the co-founder and the executive chairman of Swiss startup factory ag. In October the same year, he founded the Swiss startup association. He has been the director of the company since then.
Earlier in September, he was appointed the vice president of Innovation Lab Fribourg. He has also operated in the same position since then.
As of January 2016, Mike Baur is the Deputy managing director of the Swiss startup invest.
He attended the University of Applied Science in Bern where he did his Bachelor of applied science in Baking and Finance. He did his Executive Business Administration from the same university. Between 2007 and 2008 he attended the University of Rochester where he did his Master of Business Administration.
