David McDonald is the President and Chief Operating Officer of the OSI Group, the Director of OSI International Foods (Australia) Pty Limited, and sits as a member of the company’s board of directors. He previously served as OSI’s Project Manager and before this served with Marfrig Global Foods S.A. as is Independent Director. He attended Iowa State University and received a degree in Animal Science while there and, today, also sits as Chairman of the North American Meat Institute. While all of these credentials speak about active roles he has played in the success of the company, they don’t explain how much of a difference he has made while there.
The Expansion Of The OSI Group Under David McDonald’s Leadership
David Mcdonald joined up with the OSI Group about 30 years ago, and since that time, he has been a dynamic force that has encouraged growth and accountability. He has said himself that the consistent desire for improving their offerings and continuing to grow has become part of the culture of the company that is slowly expanding its reach globally. David always expects himself and everyone who works for OSI to give their best to the customers they serve. It is his entrepreneurial passion and desire for building OSI as a sustainable company in the face of constant growth is a huge driving force for him. He appreciates the fact that their private ownership allows OSI to be more flexible and innovative with its offerings.
Recently, the OSI group acquired the Dutch food manufacturer, Baho Foods, which serves customers in 18 different European countries. David McDonald felt that the acquisition will help OSO to reach more of the European market and that the offerings of Baho Foods greatly complements what OSI already offers there. Since the customers who buy what they sell are always on the top of David’s concerns, he is happy that OSI will be able to offer them more of what they want. It is exactly this customer-first based approach that has allowed OSI Group, under David’s capable leadership, to succeed where so many others have failed.
Sustainability Is Of Top Importance To David
OSI recently released a 2016-2017 sustainability report that showcased a lot of what it is doing around the globe. Among supporting initiatives that improve animal welfare and donating over 200,000 lbs of food to American food banks, David was proud of what the company has accomplished. He remarked that OSI is looking to continue improving the lives of its employees, the communities it serves, and will remain an environmentally conscious and sustainable company going into the future.
