The Continuous Rise Of Highland Village Shopping Center

Huston real estate industry has been a continuous rise in the recent past. This developing metropolis in Texas has not only seen many high end properties coming up, it has only enjoyed the rise in property prices. There are lots of famous properties in the city. One of these properties is the Highland Village.

S.N Adams built Highland Village Shopping Center in mid 1940s.The shopping center is a mix-used center and is located on Westheimer Road. Adams named the center so because his native village in Scotland was also called Highland Village. It is one of the very first shopping centers in Houston that are still operational and attracts a huge number of people. The building is no longer owned by Adams. He sold the property in the 1960s. Since then, the property has been in the hands of a number of investors. The current owner, Haidar Barbouti, is the broker and the manager of the center. He has owned Highland Village since 1991.  If you want to see pictures of the property, Haidar has those on Instagram.

In 1994, Starbucks picked the center to house its first shop in the city of Houston. This greatly improved the status of the center. The opening of Starbucks at the center lead to a rise in the number of people visiting the center and hence more and more companies became interested in the center. This saw Crate & Barrel open a 39,000 square foot location in the center in the year 2000.

Currently there are various notable stores in the center. Anthropologie, Pottery Barn and Williams-Sonoma are located in the center. Other stores are the Restoration Hardware and L’Occitane en Provence. Crate & Barrel are still housed in the property. There is also an Apple Store in the center. It was opened on the 16th of March, 2012.

The center is also home to various high end restaurants. This provides shoppers and visitors with a wide range of places to enjoy meals from. Some of these restaurants are the RA Sushi Bar, Up Restaurant, Smith & Wollensky and Escalente’s. These restaurants and the stores make Highland Village one of the most coveted properties in Houston real estate industry.

Haidar Barbouti, who is also the owner of Highland Village, is a member of the Barbouti family. The family has real property investments across the world. Haidar has over 20 years in commercial property field. He has lots of expertise in acquisition, development and operation of commercial properties in the United States.
